Centsational Girl

We loved getting to know the crafty, thrifty guru behind Centsational Girl in our recent holidays issue. She has some great tips for cutting costs while staying impeccably stylish—she calls it “diamond style on a dime.” We’re especially smitten with her latest project—a navy and coral budget-friendly redo of her eldest’s college bedroom. Check it out!

What We’re Reading Now: The Homes I Have Made

We just stumbled on the fantastic blog The Homes I Have Made by Marine wife Megan, who’s a pro at taking military housing units from boring to beautiful. She shares the befores and afters of her DIY decorating projects, with lots of fun tips and crafts along the way—we’re especially impressed with her vinyl “tile” backsplash.

Head over to her blog to tour her cute and crafty homes in Japan, California, Virginia, and (her current project) North Carolina.

Ruffles & Stuff

One of our favorite bloggers is Disney Powless of Ruffles & Stuff. She designed this darling headband (modeled by Disney and her precious little girl, Paige) for our Summer 2011 issue. It’s the perfect DIY preppy accessory for a first-day-of-school outfit.

Be sure to check out Disney’s two projects from the “Crafts for Kids” section of the Holidays issue of fresh style.

Ashley Ann

We fell in love with Ashley Ann Campbell the minute we saw her Under the Sycamore blog. This ingenious and talented mom of four blew us away with her cache of clever projects, such as a daybed made out of shipping pallets and a table runner stitched from doilies. We featured a few of her fantastic ideas in the summer 2011 issue of fresh style and are thrilled to collaborate with her again for the upcoming fresh style holidays issue. City Chic Country Mouse

We first discovered this great mother-and-daughter team when one of our staff members purchased an adorable ironing-board cover from their etsy shop. When the rest of us got a look at their fun products in bright, happy fabrics, we knew we wanted them to be a part of the debut issue of fresh style. Daughter Jamie (City Chic) and mom Carmen (Country Mouse) get together for “marathon sewing sessions” that result in cute scissor sleeves, oven mitts, and, yes, ironing-board covers! Be sure to get the latest news on these lovely ladies by visiting citychiccountrymouse.blogspot.com.
